Ekphrasis in Verse 2018
“Shadow (of Her Soul)” by Sybil Mouna Toure
by Kiara Jackson
White is the color of her clothes As she stands there looking worried and Cold Standing barefoot on the ground looking All around She follows her She is big and bold And black like burnt coal With a slant smile that turns People smiles upside down She follows her Standing in front of a red Wall at 20 feet tall with Horns like a bull She follows her Thorns throughout her body
And a tail that’s long like a rope She stands there Preying on one’s soul Standing behind her is The Shadow of her soul
