One Twenty-One

Virginia State University’s

NATIONAL, ONLINE Journal

of Undergraduate writing and art,

seeks submissions from all

undergraduate students currently enrolled in A Historically Black College or University. 

 

Our staff is currently accepting submissions of:

· Poetry

· Fiction

· Creative Nonfiction

· Screenwriting

· Drama

· Visual Art

· Photography

· Recorded performance (dance/choreography, theatre, spoken-word, performance art, poetry slam, recorded readings, etc.)

· Audiovisual/multimedia submissions (music videos, digital art, student films, etc.)​

Guidelines:

​

Please Email submissions to onetwentyonejournal@gmail.com

as a single .doc or .docx attachment. The file name should contain your full name (JaneSmithpoetry.docx).

​

Please Indicate the genre of work in the email subject line (e.g. Poetry Submission), and include contact information and a brief biographical statement in the body paragraph of your email. 

​

Poems: send up to six. No page limit, within reason.

​

Short fiction/Creative nonfiction: any number of pieces, totaling no more than twenty-five pages.

​

Drama/screenplays: Any number of pieces, totaling no more than fifty pages.

​

Recordings/Performances/Multimedia art: send up to three as digital files or web links, totaling no more than ten minutes. 

 

Visual art/photography: send up to six as digital files. 

 

We welcome previously published material as well as simultaneous submissions, as long as you promptly withdraw your work upon acceptance elsewhere.

All rights revert to the author upon original publication in One Twenty-One.
